Our Purpose

The mission of Creative Caregivers is to inspire, empower and formulate an effective long-term connection in specialized needs in care between the focus of individualized strengths and talents and behavioral change through companionship, habilitation and respite care.History has documented that there is a possible link between mental illness and creative output. Some of the first research in this area focused on simple correlation studies, looking for quantifiable evidence that mental illness is more common among creative people. However there has never been any real evidence or support of correlating or developing an effective quality management of care. Creative Caregivers focus on the key indicators and specialized care to promote such service and excellence to ensure continuous improvement, evidence based results, quality outcomes, and necessary safeguards for individuals. Define Creative, Symptom, BehaviorCreative- Making imaginative use of the limited resources. Having the quality of something created and not imitated.Symptom- A sign or an indication of disorder or disease, especially when experienced by an individual as a change from normal function, sensation, or appearance.Behavior- The actions or reactions of a person in response to external or internal stimuli. (we all do this right?)Creative Caregivers will label NO ONE and Care Creatively for every Individual One.That being said, our goal is to promote, assist and implement creative specialized care. To enhance non-medical Mental health and Intellectual Developmental Disorders, Autism, Long-term Living services while achieving and championing the quality and quantity of life within the home and the community.

Nechelle Harris - Founder

Nechelle is the founder and Area Manager of Creative Caregivers. She has worked in the Human service field as a Case Manager and Therapeutic staff support for over 20 yrs successfully and whole heartily fighting for change and progress for the individuals in which she worked and believes in. She has helped to create and implement programs to best fit the specialized needs of the individuals. Her responsibilities include leading the Creative Caregiver staff and team to a more individualized integrated strategy to address business objectives, supportive and creative approaches to best service her clients and families. As an Allentown leader and strong advocate Nechelle continues to s initiate collaborative efforts with leaders in the area of mental health, IDD, Autism, Aspergers, and special needs job creation policy. She is focused on applying creative care with evidence-based outcomes.

Sandra Schrampf- Behavioral Support Specialist

Sandra currently serves as the Behavioral Support Specialist as well as a Counselor. In this role, she leads all behavioral services between the individual and the staff. She has s spent 30 years as a Counselor, and supervising special need students, providing or supervising services such as drug and alcohol rehabilitation, treatment for specialized diagnoses, education, and behavior management services. She is also in responsible for staff and family education in efforts to maximize effectiveness in the workplace, community, clients home and life - via courses, seminars, workshops, on-the-job learning, mentoring/coaching, and employee related policies.

Shaun Smith- Administrator

Mr. Smith is responsible for the financial and administrative management of the company, including; banking, payroll, and other everyday procedures. He plays an active role in the development and execution of strategic and tactical initiatives. Shaun has extensive knowledge in the area of accounting and payroll. He has demonstrated the ability to elicit both respect and accountability from staff at all levels. He is a great asset to Creative Caregivers.

Creative Care includes: Art, music, dancing, hand to hand creative communication.Home and Community Habilitation Services- Enhance the ability of an individual to lead a self-determined lifestyle by providing the support and information necessary to build self-esteem, assertiveness, create a sense of empowerment and allow an individual to make to make informed choices.Home and Community Services – These services are for individuals who need assistance in the acquisition, retention, or improvement of skills related to living and working in the community We will work with the individual to encourage greater empowerment and value of independence and to enhance his or her ability to live and participate in the community. The individual’s team meets regularly to review progress, explore new opportunities and problem solve.Respite Services- These services are the temporary relief of the person/s normally responsible for the care and supervision of individuals in service. Our respite services are a therapeutic relief service not only for the family but for the individual as well. We encourage a conceptual development of relationships, access to community resources, culture competency, and set and pursue personal goals, and provide emotional support through problem solving through the hospitality of a passionate, caring, safe work ethics.Homemaker/Chores- – This is an indirect service to individuals and is the provision of general household activities such as meal preparation and routine house cleaning. More extensive services are also included when those services are necessary to maintain the home in a excellent condition of clean, sanitary, healthy and safe conditions. More extensive duties include washing floors, walls, windows, repairs, painting, moving heavy furniture, yard maintenance to ensure safety and access to your home.Companionship- This service is designed to provide for the individual to participate in experience regular community leisure-time activities and to increase his or her physical or psycho-social development. Participation in activities with non-related people within the home or community is deeply encouraged.Transportation- non-emergency -transportation is essential for individuals to maintain independence and to continue living in their communities. Non-emergency transportation includes a broad range of transportation service options designed to meet the needs of transportation special needs populations including older adults, disabled persons and/or those with lower income. Individuals have different needs and may require a set of different services depending on their abilities, their environment, and the options available in their community. We are not only an Agency, We are also Advocates.

Define Individual-A specific person, distinct from others in a group "belief in the individual's right to self-expression with a creative need to define his/her own self and circumstances in his concept of the will to power and the heroic ideal of self, not a label.

Creative Care Process

The Creative Care process of art making is implemented to improve and enhance the physical, mental, and emotional well being of individuals of all ages. it is based on the belief that the Creative process of artistic self-expression helps people to resolve conflicts and problems, develop interpersonal skills, manage behavior, reduce stress, increase self-esteem and self-awareness, and achieve insight.The Creative Care process uses individual talents and strengths, photography, drawing, painting, and other art processes to fully positively care for our clients with emotional, cognitive, physical, and/or social developmental needs and disorders. Using their skills with the evaluation of the ISP only appropriate materials of arts will be chosen.
